'Co-ordinated attacks' hit Afghan city

Taliban gunmen have launched a wave of attacks in the Afghan city of Kandahar.

At least eight people have been killed - including six gunmen.

The main target was the Kandahar governor's compound.

Gunmen also launched an attack from the traffic police department, apparently targeting the Afghan Intelligence Service, which is based nearby.

In the northwest of the city, a gunbattle raged in a school.

The fighting here was aimed at the District Police Headquarters.

And a police compound near the Serposa area was also attacked.

Al Jazeera's James Bays has more from Kabul.
