A wounded Syrian rebel is taken into a hospital in Turkey for treatment.

As the battle rages for control of Syria's largest city Aleppo more casualties are expected.

A relative of a wounded man says most of the injured are fighting for their lives.

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) RELATIVE OF A WOUNDED SYRIAN, NAME WITHHELD, SAYING:

"They brought in more than 20 wounded people. All of them are in critical condition . There are about 30 dead".

Activists say more than 18,000 people have been killed in Syria since the uprising began last March -- many more have been wounded and those numbers are just going higher.
