Peter O'Toole turns 80

Actor Peter O'Toole, praised for esteemed roles in classic films such as "Lawrence of Arabia," turns 80 on August 2. The veteran Irishman, who recently announced his retirement from acting in films and stage, has been nominated for an Oscar eight times.

O'Toole's last Oscar nomination was for Best Actor in the 2006 film "Venus." Over his career, he has won four Golden Globes, a BAFTA, an Emmy, and was the recipient of an honorary Academy Award in 2003.

He is now spending his time working on the third volume of his memoirs.
