Protesters in Bahrain have clashed with police after a funeral procession through the capital for Ali Hasan al-Dehi, the 78-year-old father of a Shia opposition leader, Hussein al-Dehi.

Security forces used tear gas and armoured vehicles to drive back hundreds of protesters who were marching towards Pearl Square in Bahrain's capital Manama, on Friday.

According to the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights, Ali Hasan al-Dehi was beaten to death by riot police on Wednesday while returning to his home in the village of Dehi.
