Explosives from shooting suspect's home detonated

All explosives have been removed from the booby-trapped apartment of James Holmes - the man accused of shooting dead 12 people at a movie theatre in Aurora.

Bomb experts used a robot to enter the Colorado apartment, which had been rigged with 30 explosive devices.

The authorities say if detonated, they could have blown up the entire three-story building.

The last devices were safely removed on Saturday (July 21) afternoon.

They were driven to a remote area near Aurora and detonated in a controlled explosion.

As the police investigation continues, the authorities are working to preserve any evidence in the apartment.

They hope it may shed light on the motives of a crime that's stunned the nation.
