TV9 - "Attahasa" Kannada Film Is Based on My Book Mysore Gururaj - Part 4...!

Mysore based Journalist Gururaj had written a book called “Rudra Narthana’ a few years ago based on his own experiences covering Forest brigand Veerappan and his interviews with many senior police officers and other police personnel. He had also spoken to many people who had become targets of Veerappan’s cruelty.

Now Gururaj has claimed that Attahasa director A.M.R.Ramesh has based his film on his novel. In a letter written to the media he has given the full background of incidents that had occurred earlier to strengthen his allegation that Ramesh has deliberately neglected him after launching his film.

According to Gururaj, the director of Attahasa had met him and even complimented him for writing an interesting and authentic book on Veerappan. Gururaj says that Ramesh had indicated that his film will be based on the contents of the book written by him. After an announcement was made in the media about the launch of the film, Gururaj says that he had contacted Ramesh as to why he had avoided calling him to the muhurath. Ramesh pretended that he had not known Gururaj till then, but later acknowledged remembering Ramesh’s meeting with him.

Gururaj was surprised with the behaviour of Ramesh and had decided to exhaust the remedies to get a rightful recognition for his efforts in writing this book on which even the Attahasa director had acknowledged using the contents. He approached the director’s association which had two meetings with Ramesh and Gururaj. ‘But Ramesh did not concede the truth and was not interested to give credit to me as a story writer. I had agreed to advise given by M.S.Ramesh, the President of the Kannada film director’s association not to demand remuneration but agree for the credit to be given as a story writer of the film. But now I feel I am not getting justice to my efforts’ says Gururaj. Even the Kannada film directors association has decided to keep off from the issue and has now advised Gururaj to seek legal remedy or renew his efforts for arriving at a compromise with A.M.R.Ramesh.

Gururaj is a popular Journalist in Mysore who had worked in several well known and popular dailies like Mysore Mithra and others. After exhausting rightful remedies to get justice for his efforts, he is approaching the media and later has decided to approach courts for seeking justice.

Gururaj in his letter to the media has enclosed all the documents of his original letter to Kannada film director’s association and also a letter from KFDA advising him to approach courts. He has also sent a CD which has recorded the conversation between Attahasa director A.M.R.Ramesh and him after the launch of the film.
