Barroso warns of poverty rise in Europe

Speaking before the European Parliament in Strasbourg, European Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso on Wednesday urged European member states to take decisive action to tackle the euro crisis. "In some of our countries , we have worrying developments in terms of the rise of poverty and social exclusion.", said Barroso. "I will urge the European Council to take concrete commitments towards a fully developed Economic and Monetary Union", he added.
