Although less than 160km lies between the US and Cuba the political distance between the two nations could not be greater. Many analysts thought it would take a change in Cuba's leadership before relations would improve. But Cuba's revolutionary leader, Fidel Castro, handed power to his brother Raul nearly four years ago and little has changed. The election of US President Barack Obama who campaigned on loosening travel restrictions with the country, has also failed to bring any major improvement in relations. With tensions between Cuba and the US as great as ever, what will it take to restore relations between the two nations?
