Radovan Karadzic, the former Bosnian Serb leader, has said he will boycott the start of his trial at the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal in The Hague.

He has said the trial is a "rush to justice", and he needs more time to prepare his defence.

Karadzic is accused of genocide and crimes against humanity during the Bosnian war.

Al Jazeera's Tim Friend reports.
