The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is alleged to have infiltrated several mosques across the country in the hope of finding Muslims who are planning attacks.
Al Jazeera spoke with an ex-convict who claims the FBI assigned him to spy on Muslims in the state of California.
Some Muslims there say he went even further - trying to encourage them to commit attacks. Gabriel Elizondo reports.
