A passenger train crashed into a goods train at Penneconda in India's southern state of Andhra Pradesh early on Tuesday, killing at least six and injuring several others.

Three bogies, one sleeper class coach and two second-class coaches of the Bangalore-bound Hampi Express were derailed due to the collision. One of the coaches was engulfed in flames.

The cause of the accident is still unknown, but it seems that the driver of the passenger train overshot the signal.

Meanwhile, Indian Railways Public Relations Officer, Anil Saxena, said that a team of railway doctors has arrived at the collision site to attend to the injured passengers and the rescue operations are on in full swing.
