Danish royal couple visits Korean DMZ

Danish Crown Prince Frederik André Henrik Christian and his wife Crown Princess Mary Elizabeth visited the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) dividing North and South Korea on Sunday (May 13).
North Korean soldiers took pictures of the couple as the North's soldiers and South Korean soldiers faced each other in silence.
The royal couple arrived in South Korea on Thursday (May 10) for the six-day state visit aimed at boosting bilateral ties.
Crown Prince Frederik is first in line to the Danish throne and is his country's first crown prince to visit South Korea since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1959. His wife Mary was born in Tasmania, Australia.
Ahead of the visit to the DMZ, the royal couple met South Korean President Lee Myung-bak in Seoul and attended the gala ceremony for the World Expo 2012 opening in South Korea's coastal city Yeosu on Friday (May 11).
The couple also attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for opening of the Danish pavilion at the expo site and visited the Australian pavilion on Saturday (May 12).
