The US State Department has announced a new agreement with China over Chinese activist Chen Guangcheng.
Chen will travel to the US with his family to study at an American university, which has offered him a fellowship.
The US State Department outlined US expectations in an official statement:
"The United States government expects that the Chinese government will expeditiously process [Chen's] applications for [travel] documents, and make accommodations for his current medical condition. The United States government would then give visa requests for him and his immediate family priority attention."
The Chinese Foreign Ministry has said that Chen will be allowed to study abroad. State-run media echoed the statement.
Hillary Clinton spoke on this issue at a news conference this morning.
