The African Union (AU) says it is incapable of bringing stability to war-torn Somalia and is calling on the United Nations (UN) for help.

The AU mission says it lacks vital funding and logistical support, making it impossible to carry out its mandate on the ground.

Now it is urging the UN to take over peacekeeping operations and extend its engagement beyond diplomacy.
