Japan is consistently on the cutting edge of technology. One of their newest inventions is a palm activated ATM set to debut in few months.

Just think, one less card to carry around or one less card to lose! According to MSNBC, the Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank is the first so far in the world offering a completely card free ATM.

The Register reports that the bank will be utilizing palm scanning technology from Fujitsu. The process allows the machine to scan the patterns of veins in the palm.

The bank customer must scan their palm, plugging in their pin and birthday and voila! –Easy access to their account! The bank notes that this technology would have greatly helped the survivors of the 2011 tsunami who had lost their bank cards and ID’s.

There have been other unusual ATMs as well. Sprinkles, a US cupcake chain has launched a cupcake ATM.

Then there are the ATMs that have shown erroneous balances. Like the one in Florida that showed $89 billion account balance on the receipt of the individual accessing the ATM.

Now imagine - $89 billion in your account and you just need to reach out with your hand to get it.
