Palm oil is processed for use in cosmetics, food and bio-fuel. But it remains controversial because rainforest is often destroyed to make way for palm plantations, thus eliminating an important carbon sink. A company in Colombia is rethinking the process by growing its palm oil plantations on disused fields.
