The Argentinean government has responded to the global financial crisis by nationalising $30bn in private pensions. Mario Blejer, a former governor of the Argentinian Central Bank, joins the show to discuss the claims made by many economists and opposition politicians that the move is part of a plan to fill a widening hole in government finances. Also, Dore Gold, a former Israeli ambassador to the UN, and Manuel Hassassian, a Palestinian ambassador to London, discuss the challenges facing the peace process in 2009.
