Melissa Engleman is a singer/songwriter living and playing in Austin, Texas.. Growing up she was a lot more comfortable doing math than music. She did participate in school choir, but was terrified of solos. After years of writing and singing melodies to herself and sometimes shyly to her friends, that she would often make turn around and not look at her while she was singing, she finally picked up playing guitar. This led to playing shows with friends, open mics around town and a tiny bit more confidence. After several more years of playing shows sporadically and trying to overcome her shyness, she finally decided she had a few songs she liked sharing with people and that maybe this was more than a hobby...
In 2009, Melissa recorded a 3 song demo and in late 2010, released her first Live EP "At the Hotel Cafe" from a live set recorded in Los Angeles, CA. Since April of 2010, she has been playing happy hour on Saturdays at the Hole in the Wall in Austin, TX and recently won "Best Presentation" at the 2011 Media Arts and Literacy Institute Festival.
Melissa fuses singer-songwriter folk with alt-country and a bit of the blues. She is currently playing around Austin, working on new material for a full-length cd, planning a tour, and striving to be a better musician.
