In 2009, guitarist Austin Roach teamed up with veteran drummer, Dexter Walker, to form the funk/rock powerhouse, Austin Heat. Roach and Walker recruited two fellow seasoned musicians: seven string bassist Freddy Marshall, and keyboardist Don Burrows. The band's goal is to be the party by bringing the energy to keep people on the dance floor, while keeping a laid back stage presence. Over the years they played at venues such as Lucky Lounge, Ruta Maya, and various bars on Austin's famous 6th street. At that time Austin Heat was a tight and energetic band, who all took turns as lead singer. Although all very talented, they were looking for a lead vocal to add something extra. In late 2010, Roach met Brian Scartocci who brought a new energy to the band with his soulful voice and excited attitude. Scartocci's enthusiasm was contagious and within a few months, Austin Heat had written their first album. With a hot sound enhanced with new soul flavor, the band is now just getting started!
