Travis Caine & The Lasting Effect is the stage name of folk rock musician Travis Caine of Toronto, Ontario. Travis Caine (born July 23, 1984 in Oakville, Ontario) plays acoustic and electric guitar, performing as both a solo act and with a backing band, a rotating line-up consisting of friends, family and musicians, dubbed The Lasting Effect, though the full band name is used regardless.

Formed in 2009 as the first solo outing by Caine, who had fronted numerous punk and rock bands earlier in his career, the origins of the name was originally out of discomfort of being presented on his own, as well as to leave the option open for a full band to form in the future. The Lasting Effect was a name he suggested to a former band that never materialized.

Taking a strong stance against the idea of major record labels, the band maintains a strong independent entity, producing material on their own budget and focusing in on digital distribution and vinyl. Their first EP, 5 Strings, was released November 2010 and references the unique guitar set-up Caine used when writing and recording the songs.

The band often uses the quote: "I wanted movement and not a calm course of existence. I wanted excitement and danger and the chance to sacrifice myself for my love. I felt in myself a superabundance of energy which found no outlet in our quiet life." by Leo Tolstoy in 'Family Happiness' as a biography or band description.
