MICHELE ANN KELLY (BalconyTV)

Michele Ann Kelly was introduced to music by her piano teaching grandmother and childhood summers spent on Achill Island. At 17 she took herself off to Milan Italy where she sang with an Irish trad group.
Returning to Ireland Michele realised she needed to learn more about the business of the music business. She honed her songwriting skills through IMROs songwriter workshops.
2000 found her releasing Lying in the Arms of Love. She attracted industry interest that earned her support slots for Irish artists like Mary Black and Paul Brady.
Michele released her debut, a 6 track EP A Breakfast Affair, on 17th June 2005. Its release coincided with a sold out headline gig at The Sugar Club Dublin.
In March Michele played in Whelan's Bar on Wexford St. with singer/songwriter Gavin Glass and in April she stormed onto the stage at the Helix Theatre opening the show for Don Baker. When Don later in his show called Michele back on stage for a song together they brought the house down.
In May herself and her sidekick Italian guitarist Massimo Santaluica played Waterford. This gig was best described by Hotpress Magazines Jackie Hayden, "Kelly brought her soothing and reassuring voice to Paul Flynn's in Waterford this May. She is a confident and sparky stage performer with a bag of nourishing songs that deserve to be heard far beyond these shores".
Her music is a melange of blues, rock and folk with a hint of country. Her smoky vocals move effortlessly from fragility to down and dirty ballsy, guiding the listener on a journey through her well-crafted songs.
