Climate: Camel Milk from Kenya | Global 3000
  • 12 years ago
Camels instead of cows. Lots of Europeans think that's a standard drink in Africa but it couldn't be further from the truth. Camels are used for transportation through the desert, while cows are raised for milk production. But climate change is forcing a rethink. Droughts are becoming more frequent, making it difficult to maintain grazing land for cows.NGOs are now encouraging people to try camels as an alternative. They can be milked all year round, the milk itself is healthier and it fetches a higher price at the market.
