Nick Nolte's work on "Warrior" has earned him an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor. The 70-year old star said he didn't expect the nod and was pleasantly surprised.
SOUNDBITE: Nick Nolte saying (English):
"It's a nice icing on the cake. In fact, it's a treat to be 70 and still be working. To get a nomination, I didn't imagine that. I didn't expect it, so it's nice."
While the three-time nominee is grateful for the Academy's recognition, he said he is more focused on the work that he puts out.
SOUNDBITE: Nick Nolte saying (English):
"It's not so much the validation. I think the validation is just an extra bonus on it. It's the feeling that you're still doing something that's connected to the human heart."
In the supporting Oscar category, Nolte will go against Jonah Hill, Christopher Plummer, Max von Sydow, and Kenneth Branagh. The awards will be handed out on February 26.
