Parlophon-Tanz-Orchester - Abends, wenn die Lichter glü'hn

I have no idea which orchestra is actually hidden behind this pseudonym, but it is an excellent and pretty hot dance band version of a tune from the 1935 operetta "Ball der Nationen" by Austrian composer Fred Raymond. Raymond (1900-1954, né Raimund Friedrich Vesely) wrote operetta music as well as copious pieces for films and Schlager, which were very successful in the 20s and 30s. He became world-famous with his 1925 composition Ich hab mein Herz in Heidelberg verloren. Due to a weak heart, he spent his military service with a propaganda company which served the Belgrade military transmitter. After the war, he took a short break from the Salzburg Radio Orchestra to go to Hamburg, were he finished his last two operettas, Geliebte Manuela and Flieder aus Wien. In 1951, he moved to Überlingen, where he spent three years before dying from heart failure. This great record was made in 1935 or 1936. The studio orchestra is led by Schmidt-Boelcke, and the vocal is by the Metropol-Vokalisten.
