Ex president has sentenced reduced by Taiwan court

Taiwan's former president Chen Shui-bian had his life sentence reduced to 20 years on appeal by the high court on Friday. Chen and his wife, who were found guilty of corruption and handed life sentences in September, were given shorter terms because the court said the embezzlement was less serious than previously thought. The verdict was the former president's second in a week after a lower court found Chen not guilty in another case earlier last week. Chen's son, daughter-in-law and three aides also had their sentences reduced by the high court.
