Home Decor: Faceted Votives & Rocking Votives

Home Decor: Faceted Votives & Rocking Votives - as part of the home design series by GeoBeats.

The first items that we are going to talk about are these limited edition faceted votives that I do with a candle company called "Luminology". I hand sculpted a bunch of different faceted shapes and then we "slit past" them, so that the walls are really thin. When the wax level drops down the walls of the vessel actually glow through with the candle light making for a really interesting geometric kind of architectural shape on your table. The cool thing about this candle is that it is a soy wax and the wick is made of wood, so when you light it, it crackles like a fire.

The second vessel we are going to talk about was also designed as a votive. It is called the rocking votive because it gently moves a little bit on the table. They are also great as salt pigs, but I designed them as a votive. And when you put the tea light in them, the light from the tea light bounces off all the different glazed colors on the interior. The vessel is "thrown round" and then after we trim it, we smash it on the table to achieve this flat bottom, "which is what gives it, it is off kilter stance."
