In retaliation, Ferzat was kidnapped, threatened and badly beaten up. Pictures of Ferzat, both his hands broken by goons, outraged cartoonists the world over. They fought back in solidarity, using their pens to draw more caricatures attacking Assad than Ferzat could ever manage. Will Assad's other brutal actions eventually backfire on him?
