Home Design Tips: Selecting Room Accessories

Home Design Tips: Selecting Room Accessories - as part of the home design series by GeoBeats. Have fun with accessories. Accessories reflect your personality, and they also tell a lot about where you have been, where you have travelled, and who you are. Do not be afraid to accessorize a room, but do be afraid of over accessorizing a room. That happens all too often. Sometimes choose some of your best items, put them out, and put the rest of the stuff away and change them seasonally. Now this piece here is very large, and an elephant brings good luck to the home. This would be beautiful next to a fireplace. It would also be beautiful in the center of a console with two lamps on either side. Monkeys, monkeys, monkeys. People love monkeys. This one I like because it has a little bit of whimsy to it, with the little monkey looking at himself in the mirror. And it just makes a fantastic accessory for the bedroom, for the dresser, for a powder room or even a dressing table. One of my favorite accessories that we recently got into the Craig Olsen showroom is the over-sized Monopoly game pieces. I think they add a sense of whimsy and they also add a sense of strength and power to any table. And certainly they make a great conversation piece. Industrial, vintage letters make a great statement in any space, especially a loft space, a boy's bedroom, a cool family room. Vintage letters put on a wall in any way possible is super, super cool.
