Overnight clashes in Alexandria

Clashes between demonstrators and police continued into the night in Alexandria, Egypt on Wednedesday (November 23).
Protesters stormed the Security Directorate of Alexandria and clashed with security forces, hurling molotov cocktails at security vehicles.
The army's popularity has waned in the nine months since President Hosni Mubarak was nudged from office.
Demonstrators want the army to relinquish power, and reject the army's offer of a referendum on its rule.
The army had sworn to steer the country towards civilian democracy, but suspicion is growing that they are maneuvering to stay in power beyond elections set for Monday November 28th
