Gaddafi's lifeless corpse lay in Misrata as joyous Libyans stand next to it and take photos.
The capture and death of their former dictator marks a symbolic end to 42 years of iron-fisted rule.
Although the details surrounding his death are conflicting... sources say he was first discovered here, hiding out in a drainage pipe in Sirte, his former hometown.
Officials say his body will be buried quickly and secretly later on Friday.
In Misratra, people pour into the streets to mark the news -- the skies a-glow with fireworks.
Still, questions remain about the way forward for the country.
Officials say a formal announcement of Libya's liberation, which will set the clock ticking on a timeline to elections, will be made on Saturday.
