PRÊT-À-PORTER SPRING 2012 MANISH ARORA
This presentation was part theater, part défilé –in fact, it opened with the Spanish actress, Rossy de Palma, striding down the runway. She was followed by models dressed in bright, futuristic outfits that looked amazing, but unwearable in real life. Some of the girls then took seats at the little tea tables and struck dramatic poses. But I’d come to see clothes!

Best of all, you will never see anyone else wearing these clothes: each dress is made by hand, not to mention one-of-a-kind. My favorites included a lace gown that was tight on top (with Trash-Couture’s signature stretch corset sewn inside the bodice), but flared at the hip (I need this dress); a bustier combined with a feathered skirt (so different and original); and another short dress with a military feel (including brass buttons) that was lots of fun. This is Trash-Couture: the name may not be elegant, but the clothes are A+
