Another Tibetan monk has set himself on fire on Monday—protesting the Chinese regime's suppression and decision to choose the next Dalai Lama.

Kalsang is about 18-years-old and from the Kirti monastery in the Aba prefecture of Sichuan Province.

The London-based Free Tibet group said the monk was holding a picture of the Dalai Lama and calling for religious rights and freedom in Tibet, before lighting himself.

According to Free Tibet, police put out the flames, but Kalsang's condition remains unknown.

This is the fifth Tibetan monk who's self-immolated in protest this year.

Free Tibet director Stephanie Brigden says (quote), "It is tragic that a fifth monk has set fire to himself in Tibet this year...A growing number of Tibetans clearly feel that this is the only way that they can be heard."

Last week two young monks from the same monastery set themselves on fire to protest against the Chinese regime's oppressive control over their religion.
