Tropical Storm Roke batters Japan

Flooding in Japan's northern Miyagi Prefecture, caused by Typhoon Roke on Wednesday.
The typhoon has since been downgraded to a tropical storm.
According to a national broadcaster, ten people are so far confirmed dead and five still missing following the heavy rains and ferocious winds whipped up by the typhoon.
In Tokyo, millions of commuters were left stranded as nearly all public transport stopped.
In northern parts of the country, still struggling to recover from the March 11 earthquake and tsunami disaster, some of the evacuees' temporary homes were flooded.
The typhoon battered the crippled nuclear facilities at Fukushima, but according to TEPCO did not damage the already weakened reactors or threaten the surrounding environment further.
