The Chinese regime is fuming over the meeting between US President Barack Obama and the Dalai Lama at the White House on Saturday. Chinese authorities demanded the US president to cancel the meeting... but to no avail.

On Saturday, US President Barack Obama welcomed exiled Tibetan spiritual leader—the Dalai Lama—to the White House, despite strong objections from the Chinese regime.

In a statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chinese regime warned the US to stop interfering in China's internal affairs... a method often used to quiet critics of Beijing's poor human rights record.

On Sunday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said, (quote) "Such an act had grossly interfered in China's internal affairs, hurt the feelings of Chinese people, and damaged the Sino-American relations."

The Chinese regime reiterated that it strongly opposes any foreign leader meeting with the Dalai Lama.

Despite the strong reactions, Obama spent nearly 45 minutes with the Dalai Lama in a private meeting—in which he highlighted the importance of safeguarding human rights for Tibetans.

According to a statement issued by the White House, both Obama and the Dalai Lama acknowledge Tibet as a part of China.

Last weekend's meeting was Obama's second with the Tibetan spiritual leader.

The Dalai Lama is on an 11-day trip to Washington, DC. About a week ago he gave a lecture on the lawn of the US Capitol on his birthday... a Buddhist ceremony attended by thousands.
