“I felt compelled to do this book. That's the best thing about journalism is that sometimes this fire gets lit in me with book projects especially. There's just no way I can not do it. I was writing about the corporate scandals and I saw the lying and the millions of and billions that people were losing as a result of it, lying by people who were wealthy and successful and educated and so this whole idea took root and I felt this has got to be my life mission, at least for the next few years.”

James Stewart has won a Pulitzer Prize for his reporting on the 1987 stock market crash and insider trading. Formerly Page One editor of the Wall Street Journal, he is now a business columnist for The New York Times. Mr. Stewart is perhaps best known for his 1991 book, Den of Thieves.
