Drug violence continues to rage in Mexico. A local police chief was killed and four youths were found dead in two separate incidents in Mexico's richest city, Monterrey.
"Reforma Daily" reports that about a dozen suspected drug hit-men stormed into police headquarters and killed a police chief in one of the most brazen attacks yet in Monterrey, Mexico's richest city.
The newspaper said preliminary investigations indicate that German Perez, the police chief of Monterrey suburb Santa Catarina, was shot dead on Monday.
Hooded gunmen wearing police badges walked into the office of the Santa Catarina police chief.
After identifying Perez, they shot him several times and disarmed his bodyguards.
Perez, 52, had been in charge of Santa Catarina's police department since February 2011.
Meanwhile, the bodies of four men were found in the Colonia Florida neighborhood in Monterrey.
They had been kidnapped hours before from the municipality of San Nicolas where another man was killed.
Their bodies were found outside a shopping center where they were apparently lined up and executed.
A threatening message was spray painted on the wall next to the bodies.
