And while Tiananmen Square was under tight security on Saturday, in New York survivors of the 1989 Massacre protested in front of the United Nations. They want to make sure those who were killed won't have died in vain. Here's more.

Eyewitnesses and survivors of the Tiananmen Square Massacre protested in front of the United Nations building in New York City on Saturday. They bear witness to the Chinese regime's bloody crackdown on the pro-democracy movement of June 4th 1989—when tanks rolled in, killing hundreds, maybe thousands, of demonstrators.

Now protesters in the U.S. are calling for justice for those who died.

One survivor, Fang Zheng, lost his legs after a tank rolled over him that day.

[Fang Zheng, 1989 Tiananmen Square Protestor]:
"Not only did [the Chinese regime] fail to repent over or correct what it did 22 years ago, but it continues to abuse human rights and suppress the people. That's why we're still here—to speak the truth about what happened. We want to stop this behavior from continuing. We want to stop this regime and stop its crimes."

These protestors on Saturday submitted a petition urging the United Nations to bring the Tiananmen Square Massacre to the table at the International Criminal Court, to hold accountable the Chinese officials who were responsible. They want the U.N. to join the Nobel Peace Committee and deliver a strong message to the Chinese regime that human rights violations are unacceptable.

[Fang Zheng, 1989 Tiananmen Square Protestor]:
"We want to have our calls heard by the world. We know that this evil regime has not only created many disasters for China—we're very worried that, if its existence is allowed to continue, it will pose a major threat to the rest of the world."
