Two people are killed and 15 others injured in a bomb explosion on a bus in the Philippine capital. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Two people are killed and at least 15 injured after a bomb explodes on a bus in Manila on Tuesday afternoon.

It happened when the bus was on Manila's main highway passing through the business district of Makati.

A big hole on the right side of the bus indicated that the explosive may have been placed underneath a passenger seat.

[Gerson Moncada, Senior Fire Officer]:
"There are many who got injured, we just can't determine yet how many exactly. So far, when we arrived we were able to retrieve six from inside the bus. They suffered severe injuries. Some were amputated.”

The incident came about three months after a number of foreign embassies had warned of a heightened risk of attacks in the Philippines.

Police officials said there’s no immediate indication of who is behind the blast.

Several rebel groups have been battling the government for years and some have set off bombs in the past.
