Chinese Students Enjoy Shen Yun in Detroit, Michigan

The world's premier Chinese classical dance company Shen Yun Performing Arts surprised some overseas Chinese when they saw the show in Detroit. One student remarked that she wasn't expecting to see real Chinese culture so far from home. Our correspondent brings us this report.
Student Jin Yan recently arrived in Detroit from Mainland China. She saw Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Detroit Opera house with some of her American friends.
[Jin Yan, Student]:
"It explains Chinese traditional culture and the dancing was really fantastic."
Another student recently from the Mainland was also at the show.
[Donna, Student]:
"I feel it's a big surprise to me, so I never think I can enjoy the real Chinese things here."
[Jin Yan, Student]:
"I'm really proud of my country, of my culture."
Zheng Yiping, a fashion design major, also enjoyed the show.
[Zheng Yiping, Fashion Design Major]:
"The stage design and costumes are extremely good... The colors embody Chinese culture and art."
Jin Yan had a message for Chinese outside the mainland.
[Jin Yan, Student]:
"I think this show is very classical, so I hope Chinese students studying abroad and overseas Chinese can see this show. And American friends can come to see the show with us."
[Donna, Student]:
"Our foreign friends they're still interested in it. So I am really proud of that."
