2011-01-16 1st LIVE Journal, Mayan day 1 Eagle ♥ TRANSCRIPT: http://www.scribd.com/doc/46970185 Intro: What is real? Do we know? We’ve been fed a line of unreality and told it was solid fact. Our education and culture force us completely into left-brain thinking. Our belief in and loyalty to science and ‘fact’ is evidence of that. No right-brain thought allowed. That’s the way it’s been, not just for years, but for centuries. We don’t do much long-term planning in Western culture. A five or ten-year plan is considered long-term - and that’s sad. In other cultures, they plan for the generations, for the centuries. Even some Native Americans have built in to their ways planning for seven generations. This is reasonable. It is beautiful. Part of the reason we do such short-term thinking and planning is due to our definition of self. If you take yourself to be the body or the body-mind, then you’re a short-term creature on the earth. If you have no notion of just how ancient a being you really are, then you could get caught in the trap of such thinking. Everyone who has what I would consider a ‘good education’ should have read certain key books. Among these is The Art of War, a short but powerful book by Sun Tzu that’s a classic. It’s required reading in our war colleges. You’ll see how the best rulers win a war by not firing a single shot. Winning is the point - not how many people you killed. That being the case, then war isn’t defined in terms of the battlefield. It’s a whole new concept of fighting, of war. I’d make it required high school reading if I were in charge...
