Train services in India's Amritsar City have been heavily delayed due to heavy fog. Train officials are unable to say when services will be back on schedule.

Heavy fog is disrupting train services in Amritsar City, located in India's northern Punjab State on Wednesday. The dense fog made it difficult for trains to run on schedule.

Passengers say they're frustrated officials didn't keep them updated when the trains would be back on schedule.

[Arun, Train Passenger]:
"When we came to the station there were no trains, and when we asked they told us the trains are late."

Hundreds of passengers wait at the railway platform sipping tea and coffee and wrapped in woolens to keep warm.

[Vijay, Train Passenger]:
"We are facing a lot of trouble. All the trains are late. Whenever we question at the enquiry counter they tell us they are four to five hours late. We are unable to find out which train is arriving at the track. It becomes even more difficult waiting with our families."

Road traffic is minimal, as the fog makes it hard for drivers to see.

The state has been experiencing heavy, dense fog since last week.
