Estonia Introduces the Euro | Made in Germany
  • 13 years ago
Even as Europe is struggling to maintain the stability of the euro, Estonia is set to adopt the common European currency in January 2011.To meet Eurozone requirements, the Estonian government instituted tough cuts in public spending. Estonia met the budget criteria with flying colors - last year's budget deficit was only 1.7 percent of GDP, substantially lower than the EU's 3 percent limit. The national debt is also quite low. Almost two thirds of the Estonian population support the adoption of the euro.
