Becks' tears in emotional speech

David Beckham thanked his wife and children in an emotional speech as he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Prince William both appeared in recorded messages, before Sir Bobby Charlton handed Becks the prize and the audience gave him a standing ovation.

Victoria and their sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, watched from the front row.

Speaking of his wife, David said: "Not only has she given me three amazing children but the support that she's given me, she's truly an inspiration for me, every day."

Becks dedicated his award to the British troops fighting in Afghanistan.
