Typhoon Megi to Hit Hainan Province, China

And more bad weather hits China's southern island province of Hainan, as mudslides swamped a hotel after days of torrential rain and floods in the region. Further bad weather is expected as Typhoon Megi makes it way towards the South China Sea.
China's island province of Hainan braced itself for more bad weather as Typhoon Megi entered the South China Sea on Tuesday after lashing the Philippines.
The storm is expected to turn away from Vietnam toward China, with the center passing between Hainan and Hong Kong.
China's National Meteorological Center says Megi may be the worst to hit the country this year.
Already floods have inundated more than 300 villages in Hainan and nearly 140,000 people have been forced to evacuate low-lying areas after days of torrential rain.
Though the rain had ceased, three mudslides on Monday evening swamped a hotel and a section of highway between the capital Haikou and tourist destination of Sanya.
No deaths have been reported in Hainan as a result of the bad weather.
