Collapsing Freeway Construction Kills Six Workers

Six people are dead after a highway construction site collapsed in central Taiwan on Thursday, according to local media.

Construction workers were grouting when a 100-meter-long concrete block fell from the freeway, crushing scaffolding and workers below.

Officials are investigating the cause of the deadly collapse that also seriously injured two workers.

Another is still unaccounted for.

"We were grouting at the bridge connecting section, something might have happened during the construction process, but we are still investigating the cause."

Over two hundred rescuers were called to the scene, and are continuing to search the debris.

All the victims are reported to be workers from outside Taiwan, although their nationalities have yet to be confirmed.
