Wind Turbine Constructors Go Offshore | Made in Germany
  • 14 years ago
The SIAG company builds about 175 million Euros worth of towers for offshore wind power plants a year. When demand for offshore plants exploded, the company didn't want to leave the promising field to its competitors. So the steel construction company looked for a suitable site.

The failing shipyard Nordseewerke in Emden seemed just right, so SIAG purchased the docks from the previous owner, ThyssenKrupp. Now it plans to build towers here to be installed later at sea. The company has already received its first commission from the wind turbine manufacturer Areva Wind in Bremerhaven.
