Les frais d'inscription sont très élevés: En 2007, ils se montaient à 60 000 € pour les nouveaux engagés et 45 000 € pour les habitués. Cela réserve la participation à des personnes fortunées, souvent issues de la jet set, qui la disputent au volant de voitures de sport puissantes.
Le Gumball 3000 est un rallye automobile annuel international d'environ 3 000 miles (5 000 km), d'où son nom, qui se déroule généralement sur le réseau routier à travers l'Europe et dans le monde. Bien qu'annoncé officiellement comme un rallye sans temps officiel, ni de prix pour le premier arrivé sur les points de contrôles, dans les faits beaucoup de participants font la course, dépassant très largement les limitations de vitesse et se voient verbalisés ou confisquer leur véhicule par les polices des pays traversés.
English : The 2010 event is scheduled to travel between London and New York. The route has been confirmed and the rally will begin in London on the first of May, before taking in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Boston, Quebec City, and Toronto before finishing in New York.
On 20 April, professional skateboarder Tony Hawk announced on his Twitter page that he was entering the rally in the A-Team van, as used in the 2010 movie
Before the Gumball Rally, Talent Expo in association with Music Box gave a flash mob experience. In between the cars the flash mobbers appeared, frenzying the crowd with their Smooth Criminal routine.
