Elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, a fraud

Gilgit, March 08: Gilgit-Baltistan was administered as a colony by Pakistan for over 62 years. On 29 August 2009, the "Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self-Governance Order 2009", was unilaterally passed by Pakistani cabinet to change the political setup of the region which is not even listed as Pakistan's territory in its own constitution. The Order was a move to forcibly annexe the territory and was objected to by all nationalist groups. On November 12, 2009 Pakistan organized elections for a new Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly. 264 candidates of different parties contested 24 seats.
