Hotel Bombing Suspect Appears in Indonesian Court

On Wednesday, an Indonesian court tried a Saudi man who allegedly provided funds for militants to carry out terror activities, including a bomb attack at two luxury hotels in Jakarta last July.

Al Khelaiw Ali Abdullah transferred funds to a person who later passed on some of the money to a member of a militant group.

Abdullah maintains his innocence.

[Al Khelaiw Ali Abdullah, Terror Suspect]:
"My friends and my families already know that I'm not a terrorist."

The prosecutor says that Abdullah committed a crime and the penalty ranges from three to 15 years in jail.

[Bayu Adinugroho, Prosecutor]:
"So all capital that has been transferred by the suspect as much as IDR 54 million."

Prosecutors say Abdullah made two trips to Indonesia since November 2008, where he met with one of the terrorists who detonated a bomb at the JW Marriott hotel.

In July 2009, a militant group carried out simultaneous bomb attacks on the JW Marriott and Ritz Carlton hotels. 11 people were killed, and 53 others were injured in the incident.
