As aid continues to come into Haiti, three new airports have opened to help bring in relief supplies. There's a waiting list of hundreds of flights trying to get into the airports.

Three new airports have opened in Haiti and the Dominican Republic to help with the major backup of supplies and relief to earthquake victims in Port-au-Prince, a U.S. Commander General said on Thursday.

[Douglas Fraser, U.S. Southern Commander General]:
"Because of the size and magnitude of assistance required, we have a waiting list of over 1,400 flights waiting to get into that small airport...In addition to that, we now have 20 ships that are in the Port-au-Prince area, ranging from an aircraft carrier to amphibious-ready group, to Coast Guard cutters, to various number of ships to include the hospital ship Comfort."

To date, the U.S. military has distributed over 1.4 million bottles of water, over 7000 meals and roughly 22,000 pounds of medical supplies.

Around 12,000 U.S. military personnel are in Haiti and on ships offshore. An additional 2,000 marines are expected to be deployed offshore by Sunday.
